Harbor Freight battle is a father-son feud for the ages

During the past 15 years, a tool and hardware distributor in Camarillo called Central Purchasing exploded into one of the largest private companies in the Tri-Counties as it exploited new sales channels online, in broadcast media and at 300 retail stores.

Muscle car supplier could have region’s biggest lease this year

In what may be the largest lease deal in the Tri-Counties to date this year, Dynacorn International leased 98,952 square feet of industrial space at 4030 Via Pescador in Camarillo. The seven-year lease is valued at more than $3.8 million, according to NAI Capital’s Ventura County office, which represented the lessee.

Now that Don Lukens has been arrested in Chicago, maybe Ventura and Santa Barbara county investors will learn what happened to their money.

Millions of dollars are still missing from failed investment programs run by Lukens, who disappeared amid a flurry of law enforcement activity. Much of the reporting on the Lukens affair was reported in the Business Times. (Our reporter on that story, Tony Biasotti, is now working for the Ventura County Star covering courts.)

Much about Lukens, the missing money and what actually happened to investors who lost their shirts remains a mystery. Hopefully, as the wheels of justice in Chicago and elsewhere grind on, some of the facts necessary to unraveling the mystery will come to light.

With the new rules and agreement between the U.S. and Swiss Banks, is there now a better way to track the money. He probably has it under one or more of his many alias's and mistresses names. He also more than likely uses different social security numbers.

The FBI and other relevant authorities need to make this investigation a top priority to send a message that these types of financial crimes will not be tolerated.

Maybe after the Madoff case, crimes like these will be prosecuted more aggressively. At the time Lukens carried out these crimes, the authorities were not really that interested in the successful prosectution of crimes like this.

Now Lukens is preying on midwest widows and stealing their life savings. He needs to be put away for a long time and not be allowed to move east and perpetuate his evil crimes again.

I feel sorry for his little sister who he had no problem taking her inheritance and retirement. She fell for his rubbage. He burned her more than once. He hurt her emotionally and financially. His poor father and mother. Thank God they have passed on.
