Taking stock of PCBC, one share at a time

Generally speaking, it’s not a great idea for a journalist to own stock in a company he or she covers. In fact, it’s entirely unethical.

Future of Neverland Ranch unclear Print E-mail

As reports of the death of pop megastar Michael Jackson rolled in, the co-owner of his Neverland Ranch in the Santa Ynez Valley said it wouldn’t comment on the future of the property.

“I can’t imagine we’re going to discuss that at this point,” Owen Blicksilver, a spokesman for Colony Capital, told the Business Times. “Right now, our thoughts are with him and his family.”

Jackson defaulted on a $24.5 million loan backed by the ranch last year. Los Angeles-based Colony Capital bought the loan for $23 million and put it into a joint venture with Jackson.

Multiple news sources reported that Jackson was rushed to a University of California, Los Angeles, hospital after going into cardiac arrest June 25. The Los Angeles Times and other news outlets reported that Jackson died, citing confirmation from multiple Los Angeles County and city officials.

Earlier this year, the Wall Street Journal reported that Colony undertook an extensive renovation of Jackson’s Neverland Ranch in the Santa Ynez Valley. Crews removed amusement-park rides, elephants and orangutans in an effort to turn the ranch into a lucrative asset, the newspaper reported.

The ranch became infamous after Jackson was accused of molesting young boys there. He was acquitted of those charges in 2005 after a high-profile criminal trial in Santa Maria.

The net assessed value of the 2,500-acre ranch is $27 million, according to county assessor's records.

I hope his dream will live on at Neverland and people will always remember the good person he was, forget the scandals and remember all the good he did throughout his short life. He was not only a star, he was an inspiration with a gift of God.

Gosh I can not believe that you are gone. I was born Feb.05,1958; it sure does make me think about my life.
You could say we was neighbors growing up. I lived in a town called Crete,Illinois; which is about maybe 30 to 40 miles away.
Loved all your music and still do. Michael you will be greatly missed my the world.
Wish I could have met you in person. But I live the poor life. I give everything for my children and they are my life just like yours are. I'm glad that they will be taken care of and not fought over. Today is a sad day. Love you as a singer, performer. Micheal you arre and will be the King of Pop!

I THINK AT A TIME LIKE THIS, ALL
NEGATIVE ISSUES SHOULD BE PUT ASIDE, AND OUR PRAYERS AND COMPASSION SHOULD BE WITH MICHAEL AND HIS FAMILY. WE ARE
ALL CHILDREN OF GOD, AND HE SHOULD BE THE ONLY ONE TO JUDGE US. HE WAS A GIFTED SINGER AND LEGEND OF HIS TIME. I LOVE HIM AND VERY SADDENED BY HIS DEATH.

REST IN PEACE

just like mlk home in atl mjs home shouldn't be sold but continue to be for enjoyment as i'm sure he would've wanted it to be. i know if i had a place as such and the intent was for a place of entertainment then even after being called by the Lord i would want it to go down in history as such a place

MJ was a great man. Let's forget about everything else that has happened and remember him for the great person that he was. There would be no point in bringing up the painful past, what good would it do now? We might never know the truth about all the accusations, yes, but he was human, and he was allowed to make mistakes like anyone of us.
If not for ourselves, let's honour the memory of MJ for the sake of his children.
Let's remember him for the great songs he brought into our hearts, our homes.
He led a turbulent life, now let's let him have peace. Let his family let go.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.
