Making the Leap

The University of California, Santa Barbara, has seen many of its laboratory triumphs turned into business successes. But until four years ago, there was no dedicated program to help students make the leap from classroom theory to real-world business.

 

The University of California, Santa Barbara, has seen many of its laboratory triumphs turned into business successes. But until four years ago, there was no dedicated program to help students make the leap from classroom theory to real-world business.

Now, the Technology Management Program aims to do just that. Some 425 students participated in TMP classes and programs this year.

On May 13, 18 of them reached the finals of the New Venture Competition, UCSB’s ninth annual student business plan competition.
