Green building council lists LEED certification bodies

On July 29, the U.S. Green Building Council, or USGBC, announced the certification bodies for the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, or LEED, Green Building Rating System, as follows:

• ABS Quality Evaluations,

• DNV Certification, www.dnvcert.com
• Intertek, www.intertek-sc.com
• KEMA-Registered Quality,

• Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance, www.lrqausa.com
• NSF-International Strategic Registrations, www.nsf.org
• SRI Quality System Registrar,
www.sri-i.com
• Underwriters Laboratories-DQS, www.ul.com/mss
 
In January, the USGBC plans to move administration of the LEED certification process to the Green Building Certification Institute, or GBCI, a nonprofit organization established in 2007 with the support of the green building council. GBCI will work with the selected certification bodies to “deliver a substantially improved, ISO compliant certification process that will be able to grow with the green building movement,” the council reported.
