Scout leader dies
South Coast leader Lynn Spear lost his fight with cancer Aug. 31.
During the past 36 years, Spear has mentored hundreds of youths as they made the transition from Cubs to Boy Scouting through the Webelos program.
Spear helped scouts enjoy the outdoors at Webelos Woods, Cub Scout Day Camp, and the yearly trip up to Shaver Lake in winter.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Sept. 5 at St. Raphael Church in Santa Barbara
