Santa Barbara is talking about reviving its desalinization plant. Squabbles in the Santa Maria Valley and south San Luis Obispo County are ongoing.
But in Ventura County, a big step has been taken toward guaranteeing the quality of Santa Clara Valley for years to come.
The Ventura County Water Quality Coalition, headed by Rob Roy, has received final documents related to an earlier settlement that will limit the amount of salt that Santa Clarita and other communities in Los Angeles County can dump into the watershed.
This will result in reduced quantities of salinization in the groundwater to sustain our agricultural production and other uses for decades to come.
