Greka spills
Greka Energy spilled up to 840 gallons of crude oil at a facility just south of Santa Maria, according to Santa Barbara County Fire officials.
Several leaks and spills were reported throughout the weekend after Christmas with the Dec. 26 spill alone amounting to about 630 gallons, officials said.
The Bell Lease facility, after a spill last winter, was temporarily shut down by county officials and had its clean-up efforts federalized by Environmental Protection Agency before being allowed to reopen in April.
The company’s permit to operate the facility was revoked as a result.
