Lawsuit seeks $250,000 in legal fees
A San Luis Obispo-based action sports media company faces a lawsuit from its lawyers alleging it failed to pay more than $250,000 of its $1 million legal bill for disputes with its founders and distributors.
San Luis Obispo business law firm Sinsheimer Juhnke Lebens & McIvor is suing VAS Entertainment for $256,678.80 plus interest, according to a complaint filed in San Luis Obispo County Superior Court on June 4. The figure is the remainder of a contract the firm signed with the media company in 2006 to “provide legal services in connection with a dispute with Video Action Sports and [VAS founder] Jeff Reynolds” and “in other litigation with Inspired Distribution, Zamora and Mays, and Ventura Distribution,” according to the lawsuit.
The filing didn’t elaborate on the disputes. Neither the law firm nor VAS returned repeated requests for comment over several days.
