Cabrillo Business Park breaks ground, 12 years in the making
In 1997, Bill Clinton was president, Harry Potter was introduced to the world, and the development process began on an office project in the as-yet-unincorporated city of Goleta. Now, almost 12 years later, the Cabrillo Business Park has finally broken ground. It will eventually have 956,000 square feet of space on Hollister Avenue and 42 acres of open space.
“This is the first big project on the South Coast in what must be 20 years, and it will solve a lot of problems,” said leasing agent Mark Mattingly, an executive vice president with Pacifica Commercial Realty. The project will add 525,000 square feet of new Class A office buildings to the existing 242,000 square feet of office and R&D space – something Mattingly said is in high demand.
“Local area employers are looking at this as a solution to their facility needs,” Mattingly said. “Most of the buildings in the area were built in the ’50s or ’60s, but Cabrillo presents options.”
