In our thoughts

IN THIS ARTICLE

We’ll take a few sentences to recognize Ugo Melchiori, founder of Melchiori Construction Co., and Roger Heroux, the retired head of the Santa Barbara County Public Health Department.

Just before press time, we learned that Melchiori, patriarch of a construction company that’s been highly successful on the South Coast, passed away after a long illness.

Like so many companies in the region, Melchiori Construction is the product of hard work, persistence in the face of tremendous obstacles and good old-fashioned values. Starting from humble beginnings, the Melchioris have found ways to complete large and complex projects, sometimes on their own, sometimes in partnership with national  entities.

Heroux, a beloved community leader who was guided by his faith and his genial nature, died after a courageous battle with prostate cancer.

Our condolences to their families, colleagues and all who knew them.
