Rescue dog foundation get $1M

IN THIS ARTICLE

The Ojai-based National Search Dog Foundation won a $1 million challenge grant from The Wood-Claeyssens Foundation Jan. 20 that could pave the way for the creation of a national training center at a 125-acre ranch in Santa Paula.

Seven teams from the foundation flew to Haiti shortly after the earthquake there and helped rescue eight people from the rubble, the foundation said. Two of the teams were from its Santa Barbara training group. The grant will help build a center for training dog rescue teams.
