If you’re in the market for a big, yellow fixer-upper, you can grab one for a steal these days.
The iconic but dilapidated Summerland property known as The Big Yellow House is back on the market after sitting vacant for more than five years — and this time it’s listed at just over half its most recent purchase price.
The Big Yellow House is just what it sounds like. The two-story, buttercup-hued building sits on the side of Highway 101, marking the tiny town of Summerland. It was built in the 1890s by Henry Lafayette Williams, the town’s founder, as his family’s residence. Inside, the building boasts hand-carved eucalyptus finishing, a winding stairwell, a tiled fireplace and ocean views.
