Auto research center in works in Oxnard

IN THIS ARTICLE

The Oxnard City Council approved a plan Oct. 13 that will allow a state authority to issue $10 million in bonds to a private company that wants to build an automotive research facility in the city.

Quattro-Del Norte LLC, the recipient of the bond financing, says the project would create about 100 jobs. The firm has signed a lease with Volkswagen Group of America, according to a report to the city council from Economic Development Corp. of Oxnard President Steve Kinney.

The 63,650-square foot facility would be used for testing and research on emissions-reducing technology and on prototypes and test vehicles. Bugatti, a luxury brand owned by Volkswagen, also plans to open a service center on the premises.
