Oxnard, Camarillo chambers plan merger

IN THIS ARTICLE

The Oxnard Chamber of Commerce has voted to merge with the Camarillo Chamber of Commerce and form the West Ventura County Business Alliance, a regional advocacy organization.

Members of the Camarillo Chamber of Commerce will be voting on uniting the organizations on March 22, according to a March 11 news release from the Oxnard chamber.

If the Camarillo Chamber approves, the WVCB Alliance will act as the voice for business in both cities, working with businesses and the government to promote economic development, the regional economy and protect the interests of both communities.

Together, the new organization will have almost 1,000 members, making it the third largest chamber in the tri-county region. The businesses that are part of the organization will employ more than 60,000 people, the Oxnard chamber said.

Nancy Lindholm, the president and CEO of the Oxnard chamber, will become the president and CEO of WVCB Alliance. Current members of the two chambers will become members of the new greater organization.

It would be the second chamber merger in the region in the past year. The chambers in Santa Barbara, Goleta and Carpinteria made a similar move when they voted to merge and become the Santa Barbara South Coast Chamber of Commerce on July 17, 2020.
