Ronald Reagan Foundation hires new CEO
A former Fox News Digital executive and Defense Department official has been named president and CEO of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation & Institute in Simi Valley.
David Trulio’s appointment was announced by Frederick Ryan, Jr., chair of the nonprofit’s board of trustees, in a March 15 news release.
Trulio’s hiring followed a lengthy search to find a successor to John Heubusch, who is retiring after being the foundation’s head for 14 years.
The organization raises funds for the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum, the Reagan Center for Public Affairs, the Presidential Learning Center, the Air Force One Pavilion, and the Reagan Leadership Center, all at the Simi Valley site.
The foundation also sustains the Reagan Institute, which carries out the organization’s mission in Washington, D.C.
Trulio who most recently was managing editor, head of strategy and editorial operations at Fox News Digital, said in the release he is “deeply honored to lead the Reagan Foundation and Institute, and am grateful to the trustees for this opportunity.”
As the foundation’s president and CEO, Trulio will be charged with driving a dynamic expansion of its digital offerings, revenue streams and brand, the release said.
Ryan praised Trulio, saying, “David is the perfect person to lead this important initiative and guide us into a new era of growth.”
Before Fox Digital, Trulio worked extensively in the federal government, including the defense department and as a special assistant to President George W. Bush.
He also worked in the aerospace and defense industry, including at Lockheed Martin.
Ryan also commended Heubusch, saying his “leadership has brought the foundation to new levels and he will be deeply missed.”
Heubusch said, “it’s been the honor of my life to preserve and promote the legacy of Ronald Reagan and I’m excited by what the foundation will achieve under David’s and the board’s leadership.”
