Alaska Airlines to offer daily non-stop flights to Las Vegas from SLO Airport
Alaska Airlines will begin daily nonstop flights from San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport to Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas on Dec. 15, the airline announced June 15.
“Alaska launched service between Seattle and San Luis Obispo in 2017,” Neil Thwaites, the airline’s regional vice president of California, said in a press release.
“Since then, we’ve been excited to grow our San Luis Obispo service by adding flights to San Diego, and Portland, and now with the support of the community, we’re adding flights to Las Vegas, one of the most popular destinations without nonstop service,” he said.
Courtney Johnson, San Luis Obispo County’s airport’s director, said the growing demand for travel between San Luis Obispo and Las Vegas drove the decision to introduce the new service.
“We anticipate that the LAS-SBP route will contribute to increased passenger traffic, benefiting our airport and the region as a whole,” Johnson said.
Chuck Davison, president/CEO of Visit SLO CAL, which promotes tourism to San Luis Obispo, said the region has been in great demand by Las Vegas travelers.
“This continued growth in air service is critical to supporting local business development and creating access to additional one-stop markets,” he said.
At its current pace, 2023 is projected to be the busiest year in the history of San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport, according to the release.
