Bidens may be headed to Santa Barbara region
The Federal Aviation Administration on Aug. 17 issued a temporary fight restrictions notice for Santa Barbara for “VIP movement,” prompting speculation that President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden may be visiting the area.
The Associated Press reported that the Bidens will be flying to California after his speech and staying in the Santa Ynez Valley at an undisclosed location.
The area is a familiar stomping ground for presidents, including Ronald Reagan whose Western White House was a ranch in the mountains above Santa Barbara and Bill Clinton who stayed in Summerland.
The president is scheduled to speak at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago Aug. 19.
The FAA notice is in effect from Aug. 20 to Aug. 26.
Airports in Santa Barbara County include Santa Barbara Airport and Santa Maria Airport.
