An unidentified man is in custody in connection with the intentional detonation of an improvised explosive device at the Santa Maria Courthouse Sept. 25, the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Two people suffered non-life threatening injuries in the explosion, the office’s spokesperson, Raquel Zick, posted on social media.
The explosion was reported about 9:20 a.m., she said.
“One person of interest detained immediately,” she posted. “Subject is an adult male.” The scene remains active and the public is asked to avoid the area.
This is a developing story.
