Wells Fargo announces grants for Mountain Fire recovery
Fundraising for victims of the Mountain Fire got a significant boost on Nov. 13 when Wells Fargo announced a $100,000 grant to support Ventura County Community Foundation and recovery efforts.
According to VCCF CEO Vanessa Bechtel, the foundation had already provided over $100,000 in support and provided an additional $50,000 to the Red Cross to support fire victims. The Wells Fargo gift will substantially boost the availability of help for those who lost homes or suffered damage during the fire.
“The devastation caused by these fires takes families years to recover from, and we understand how vital financial assistance is during these challenging times,” said Kären Woodruff, Senior Vice President of Community Relations for Wells Fargo. “Wells Fargo is determined to be there to help, and we are deeply grateful to all who are joining with us to support our neighbors in need.”
Bechtel said she was pleased by the volume of small gifts in the $25 range that flooded in after a call for funding went out. “Philanthropy is in our DNA,” she said.
Specifically, VCCF has made a $103,500 in commitments for the Mountain Fire support from the Ventura County Wildfire Relief and Recovery Fund.
Of that, $87,000 has been for direct financial assistance for fire victims.
$10,000 has gone to animal emergency evacuations, and VCCF has made a grant to Interface Children & Family Services for $6,500 to support their work with fire victims including 211 responses.
