Paso Robles-based Pearce Services acquires Unified Power

IN THIS ARTICLE

Paso Robles-based Pearce Services will become one of the largest independent service providers for power continuity solutions in the United States after announcing it has acquired Unified Power on Dec. 18.

“The acquisition of Unified Power marks a significant milestone in our company’s history,” Michelle Edler, CEO of Pearce Services, said in a press release.

Pearce Services, a national provider of operations, maintenance, and engineering services for critical infrastructure, did not disclose the terms of the acquisition.

Unified Power, based in Terrell, Texas, is a national provider of repair and maintenance services for uninterruptible power supply systems and backup power generators.

Founded in 2011, Unified Power provides services to more than 6,000 customer facilities across the data center, telecommunications, healthcare, government and other mission-critical end markets.

The combined company of Pearce Services and Unified Powers will employ over 3,500 across the United States.

Additionally, Pearce will obtain Unified’s critical power solutions, which include routine and preventative maintenance, testing and inspection, troubleshooting, repair, replacement, and equipment sales for UPS systems and backup power generators.

“With the addition of Unified Power, we are expanding our capabilities to include UPS services and entering new critical infrastructure end markets such as data centers, which are experiencing accelerated growth and an increasing need for power continuity,” Edler said.

This is the first big announcement for Edler since joining the company as its chief executive in February 2024.

The former COO at Datavant, a healthcare data logistics company, Edler was tasked with the top spot after former CEO Bret Forster stepped down after 10 years at the helm as part of a succession strategy to sustain Pearce’s growth.

“I am also thrilled to welcome Michelle as our new CEO. She is an exceptional empathetic leader with a proven track record of driving profitable growth, operational excellence, and customer loyalty in complex and dynamic markets. She shares our passion for safety, quality, innovation, and commitment, and I am confident that she will lead Pearce Services to the next level,” Forster said in February.

Pearce serves the largest and most respected companies in the renewables, electric vehicle charging, and telecom markets.

“Pearce Services has a tremendous opportunity to leverage its strengths and capabilities to capture the growing demand for engineering and field services to design, maintain, and upgrade the critical infrastructure powering the North American renewables, EV, and telecom industries,” Edler said in February.

President and CEO of Unified Power, Paul Belliveau, said he has “long-admired” Pearce as a company and its “commitment to its customers and its track record of growth.”

“Our complementary capabilities will enhance Pearce’s market presence and drive significant growth for both companies. I look forward to working with the entire Pearce team to deliver a comprehensive and differentiated service offering for our customers,” he said.

Pearce Services is backed by New Mountain Capital, a leading growth-oriented alternative investment firm.

Pearce and New Mountain worked with Goldman Sachs Alternatives’ Hybrid Capital group, which provided incremental capital to support the transaction.

Ropes & Gray served as legal advisor to Pearce Services and New Mountain, and Solomon Partners served as financial advisor to Unified Power on the transaction.

There is no timeline for when the acquisition will close.
