Wind project approved
The Santa Barbara County Planning Commission approved the first renewable wind energy project in Santa Barbara County on Sept. 30.
The unanimous vote came despite objections from a handful of Lompoc area homeowners.
The project will be built southwest of Lompoc and will consist of 65 wind turbines that will reach nearly 400 feet high and 16 feet in diameter.
Construction is set to begin in spring of 2009.
