Scandinavian Inn, eatery renovated
The Royal Scandinavian Inn and its restaurant will close temporarily for renovation.
The hotel, which is comprised of three wings, will officially close on Nov. 15 and reopen in various stages beginning with the east wing, followed by the north wing, Royal Scandinavian officials said. The renovation is scheduled for completion in the spring.
Leading the hotel’s renovation is architect David Bury of David Bury & Co. The upgrade will include a new bar and lounge area, sitting room and a presidential suite. Also planned are 11 suites, six junior suites and 108 guest rooms with plenty of lavish amenities, including 42-inch plasma televisions and iPod docking stations. Interior designer Jeanette Dean, together with SAND Design, will oversee the new look and feel of the hotel’s interior.
Overseeing the complete new look and feel of the restaurant is celebrity chef Bradley Ogden. Working with Ogden is architectural and interior design firm DesignARC.
The restaurant closed Oct. 26 and is expected to reopen in the first quarter of 2009. The Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians purchased the Royal Scandinavian Inn in 2007.
