Plea due in Southwest Exchange fraud case
The daughter of a prominent Santa Barbara entrepreneur faces years in prison if she is convicted on felony charges in a case that Nevada’s Secretary of State called “quite possibly the largest case of embezzlement in the history of the state.”
Nikki Pomeroy, daughter of McGhan Medical Corp. founder Donald McGhan, was indicted on 11 felony counts of embezzlement and 11 felony counts of serving as an unlawful intermediary in a tax-free exchange. Officials said 119 individuals lost more than $97 million as a result of the alleged embezzlement.
