Elections could rattle region’s city halls
The battles for the 112th Congress and the governor’s office may be sucking up most of the oxygen this campaign season, but voters up and down the Tri-Counties will also pick new city councils on Nov. 2.
The region’s largest cities — Oxnard, Thousand Oaks and Simi Valley — all have contested council elections. In Oxnard, that means the mayor and two council members must run for re-election in the midst of a criminal investigation into how the city handles contracts.
There’s also a hotly contested mayoral election in San Luis Obispo, where, for the first time in the past 16 years, the council won’t include current Mayor Dave Romero.
