Newman a journalistic legend
We’ll take a few words to add our voice to many others who are recognizing the achievements of the late Paul Newman, an Academy Award winner with a gift for recognizing social issues.
In 1981, Newman starred in the Sydney Pollack film “Absence of Malice,” which made an important contribution to our understanding of the media and its relationship with business, Newman played a businessman who was caught up in a crime investigation spurred on by an overzealous prosecutor and an ambitious reporter.
The film put important issues regarding the media into the public eye and it served as a reminder to the press that issues of ethics and judgment are just as important as legal considerations when the reputations of publications, journalists and businesspeople are at stake.
