For as long as there’s been a Pacific Coast Business Times, we’ve been big fans of the Far Western Tavern and the Righetti family.

Their entrepreneurial spirit has kept a family business alive in the small town of Guadalupe and spawned the world-renownedj12 Susie Q barbecue sauce.

Now comes word that Sunset Magazine has named the Far Western one of the “Top 10 Barbecue Joints” in the West in its June print and online editions.

Among other things, Sunset writer Matthew Jaffe calls the Far Western “a Santa Maria-style BBQ classic that isn’t shy about embracing its ranching roots.”
