Roadrunner ending shuttle service to LAX
Camarillo-based Roadrunner Management Services will end its shuttle service to Los Angeles International Airport effective July 31.
The news came in a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification filed with the state May 31.
The former family-owned business is one of the largest private transit operators in the region, and it said the decision was made in order to sharpen its focus on business-to-business charter services in Ventura County.
“Although our relationship with the greater Los Angeles airports has positively grown over the years, we must adapt and accelerate as an organization in the everchanging transit industry and thus, have decided to focus on growing our charter business, serving Ventura County and the community we consider family,” the company said in a filing.
The reduction in services means layoffs for 60 employees, which will be effective July 31.
In 2018, Roadrunner’s assets were acquired by RATP Dev USA, whose Paris-based parent operates the Metro and other key elements of France’s mass transit system.
