The arrival of COLAB, the Coalition of Labor, Agriculture and Business, in Ventura County gives property-rights advocates another tool to protect what has become an endangered liberty in the Tri-Counties.

COLAB has strong roots in North Santa Barbara County, where Andy Caldwell has become a politician-pundit-celebrity due to his strong stand on property and development rights in a decidedly business-unfriendly county.

Now he’s pushed his organization to the next level as a political entity, hiring retiring county CEO Mike Brown as a key advisor. Brown is astute and incredibly knowledgeable about the workings of the county.

Simultaneously, a Ventura County COLAB Chapter has cropped up, led by Lynn Jensen. Jensen and COLAB Ventura County are likely to play a key role as the county gets ready for a reset on its highly-restrictive SOAR initiative.

And for those weary of partisan rancor, even in business, Jensen offers a bit of welcome news: She wants to take the politics out of property rights.
