Street Smarts: UBS brings new wealth management team to Santa Barbara
UBS continues to raise its profile in the region, recruiting a new wealth management group for its Santa Barbara office. Leading the UBS effort are Mark Brenner, financial advisor and portfolio manager and First Vice President Harrison Croff.
According to a UBS news release, Brenner is a 30-year veteran of the industry who joined UBS from Merrill Lynch. Croff is an Army veteran and UCSB alum who has been at UBS since 2013; his philanthropic work includes working with Mixtec families in northern Santa Barbara County and serving on the board of UCSB’s Gretler Foundation.
Joining Brenner’s four-person team are financial advisor Kip Paulson, wealth strategist Sean Hill and client associate Nathan Cha.

It’s a wrap. On Aug. 22 at Barrelhouse 101, judges for Casa Pacifica’s 8th Annual Best in Fest Brewery Competition chose their winner.
Pedals and Pints finished first for its Single Speed American Light Lager. Firestone Walker’s Mind Haze and Twisted Oak Tavern’s Take Her Home Belgian Tripel earned honorable mentions.

GRAD STUDENTS MOVE TO UNITED WAY
United Way of Santa Barbara County is partnering with the Housing Authority of the City of Santa Barbara for United Learning Center GRAD Academy. This partnership will transition students who previously attended the Housing Authority’s GRAD Academy after school program to United Way’s longstanding United Learning Center programming.

The American Institute of Architects Santa Barbara Chapter is teaming up with the Downtown Organization, Coastal Housing Coalition, and American Planning Association chapter to organize virtual forums for mayoral and City Council candidates. Brian Johnson, president of the Santa Barbara Association of Realtors, will moderate the mayoral forum on Oct. 18 and council forum on Oct. 20. Both programs are at 5 p.m.
