Careers and education are benefiting from home internet service subsidized by the federal government for low-income households and administered by Cox, according to a survey commissioned by Cox of more than 2,000 of its customers. “Customers used words such as grateful, relieved and blessed to describe having internet for the first time,” Cox said in releasing the survey results. “Internet access at home is an important service to earn a quality education and to meet one’s professional goals,” Mark Greatrex, president of Cox Communications said in the release. 70 % said it is helping them find new or better jobs. Half credit the service with helping them get a promotion or an increase in pay. Half credit the service with helping them to become certified in a specific skill or trade. 93 percent indicated they’re able to pay their bills on time more easily. 90% said it allows their children to access educational resources, do homework and participate in remote learning, and it better enables adults to communicate with the child’s teacher.
