GoToProfit: Citrix Online expands in Goleta

Citrix Online was one of the brightest tri-county success stories of the 2000s. More than a decade later, it shows no sign of slowing down, marking double-digit profit growth during the worst recession in decades by helping other businesses save on travel, meeting and training costs.
Founded in the late 1990s, Citrix Online began life as Expertcity, a UC Santa Barbara spinoff aimed at letting users access their computer desktops from remote locations and meet online. The company used a screen-grab innovation developed by founder Klaus Schauser, a UCSB computer science professor.
Expertcity became part of Citrix Systems after an acquisition for more than $225 million in 2004. Since then, Citrix Online has expanded its suite of Web-based software services to include tools for online meetings, webinars, remote desktop access and remote information technology help and management. During the recession, the slashing of business travel accounts has translated into increased demand for Citrix Online’s services.
