Port of Hueneme receives $42M EPA grant for zero-emission goal
The Port of Hueneme is receiving a $42.3 million grant from the Environmental Protection Agency to accelerate its goal of becoming the first zero-emission port in the country.
The grant was announced Oct. 29.
“This historic $42 million EPA grant sets the pace for the port to lead the way as the nation’s first fully zero emission port for cargo handling equipment and enables us to enhance the quality of life for our adjacent communities with state-of-the-art clean operations,” Kristin Decas, the port’s president and CEO, said in a press release.
Officials announced in June that the port aims to become the first zero-emission port in the nation by the end of 2030.
The award is part of $3 billion in grants the EPA is awarding to the nation’s ports through its Clean Ports Program.
