Sensata Technologies shuts down Carpinteria facility

IN THIS ARTICLE

Sensata Technologies, a supplier of sensing, electrical protection, control and power management solutions with locations across 14 countries, will be closing down its Carpinteria facility permanently by the end of March.

In a WARN Act filing with the state of California, Sensata said it would be a full and permanent site closure and all employees at the facility would be impacted, laying off all 57 employees.

The closure is expected to be permanent and completed by March 31, the filing read. Sensata’s Carpinteria facility is located at 6382 Rose Lane.

The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, also known as the WARN Act, is a federal law that requires employers to provide at least 60 days’ advance notice to employees before a plant closure or mass layoff.

All affected employees have been notified of their expected separation dates and that their separation from employment will be permanent, the WARN Act read.

The affected employees were not represented by a union, the filing said.

Sensata is publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange. Shares closed at $25.74 on Feb. 4.
